Senior Real Estate Accountant
Job Mission
As a Senior Staff Accountant, your mission is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data critical to supporting our business operations and strategic growth. You will leverage your construction and real estate industry experience, strong knowledge of GAAP principles, and keen analytical skills to perform essential accounting functions including project estimating and costing, contribute to financial reporting, and support process improvements.
With a high degree of attention to detail and proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel, you will play a pivotal role in reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and assisting with audits and compliance initiatives. Your adaptability, time management, and organizational strengths will enable you to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and scalability in our accounting operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, adjusting entries, and accruals.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations for Balance Sheet accounts.
- Track project/job costs and ensure costs are recorded to appropriate jobs or cost codes.
- Assist in reviewing and processing vendor invoices, inquiries, and statements of account.
- Maintain and review monthly management credit card reports and employee reimbursements.
- Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends to support decision making.
- Utilize ERP/Accounting software for transaction processing, reporting, and analysis.
- Identify opportunities for process automation or improvement in accounting workflows.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
- Support external review and audit requests, including documentation and schedules.
- Ensure regulatory filings and tax reporting are supported with accurate data and on time.
- Partner with other departments to ensure accurate accounting and data sharing.
- Prioritize and manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA required.
- 2–5 years progressive accounting experience; real estate or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools.
