Senior Bookkeeper

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to support finance operations for a U.S.-based engineering and manufacturing company. This role works closely with the CFO and independently manages recurring accounting processes, identifies and resolves routine issues, and escalates exceptions requiring judgment.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of bookkeeping and finance administration experience, ideally within engineering, industrial manufacturing, or equipment manufacturing. You'll be highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven — comfortable taking ownership of AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close activities while creating meaningful capacity for the CFO to focus on financial leadership and strategic initiatives. This is a remote position requiring consistent availability during U.S. business hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, vendor records, payment scheduling, account reconciliation, and resolution of routine discrepancies; prepare payment batches for CFO approval.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, customer account maintenance, cash application, AR aging, payment tracking, and routine collections follow-up; escalate disputed or significant accounts to the CFO with recommendations.
  • Support payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, employee changes, and related reporting.
  • Assist with new employee onboarding, including payroll setup, documentation, benefits administration, personnel records, and coordination with HR and payroll providers.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and complete regular account reconciliations.
  • Own month-end close activities and progressively assume responsibility for the accounting close process, including bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, recurring journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset schedules.
  • Prepare preliminary financial statements and close documentation for CFO review.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports for the CFO and leadership team.
  • Maintain cash flow schedules, expense reports, and supporting financial documentation.
  • Support accounting processes related to project costing, purchase orders, inventory, work-in-progress, customer jobs, and manufacturing operations; reconcile operational information to accounting records.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, payroll providers, auditors, vendors, and internal department leaders.
  • Maintain organized digital financial records and ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
  • Document standard operating procedures and support automation and systems integration initiatives.
  • Provide general finance and administrative support as required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of bookkeeping, accounting support, or finance administration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting U.S.-based engineering, manufacturing, industrial equipment, or project-based operations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Experience with project accounting, job costing, inventory, purchasing, or manufacturing operations highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Sage 50 and JobBoss or similar accounting and project management systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality judgment.
  • Ability to manage priorities independently and meet recurring deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a remote environment with consistent availability during U.S. business hours.
  • Reliable internet connection and professional home office setup.
  • Experience within the manufacturing equipment sector highly preferred.
  • Prior experience with systems integration or process automation preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. tax compliance and regulatory reporting preferred.

Requirements:

  • Updated Resume/CV.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Reliable internet connection and personal computer.
  • UPS/battery backup to ensure continuity during power interruptions.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary with performance-based incentives.
  • WFH set-up
  • Opportunities for career advancement.
  • HMO coverage for employee and immediate family members.
