Purchasing Specialist

Concertina is seeking a Purchasing Specialist/ Buyer in the manufacturing industry. This role is critical to ensuring smooth supply chain operations by sourcing, selecting, and negotiating with suppliers while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment and a strong focus on on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and quality standards. This position collaborates cross-functionally to support operational goals and drive continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review MRP requirements daily to ensure timely procurement aligned with production schedules.
  • Manage the full purchase order lifecycle, from creation to final payment.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships for long-term collaboration.
  • Maintain inventory levels in line with company strategy and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with receiving teams to ensure complete and accurate documentation before delivery.
  • Negotiate supplier terms to achieve cost-effective purchasing without compromising quality.
  • Handle RFQs and sourcing processes across MRO, non-stock, and Kanban systems.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to establish product specifications and standards.
  • Support supplier-related quality issues, including defect investigations and corrective actions.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining delivery and quality benchmarks.
  • Analyze supply chain risks and contribute to mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Track and report supplier performance metrics and trends.
  • Resolve discrepancies in receiving and invoicing with warehouse and accounting teams.
  • Utilize data analysis to support purchasing metrics and reporting dashboards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and procurement processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Strong decision-making and organizational abilities.
