Marketing and Development and Grant Copywriter
Job Summary: collaborate closely with various departments, including fundraising, marketing, program management, and executive leadership, to gather information and insights needed to create impactful content. Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, persuasive narratives will be vital in helping us secure funding from grants, foundations, and donors, while also driving engagement through strategic marketing materials.
Responsibilities:
- Grant Proposal Writing: Research, write, and edit grant proposals that effectively communicate our organization's goals, programs, and impact. Tailor proposals to match the requirements and priorities of different grant-making entities.
- Marketing Content: Develop persuasive marketing copy for a variety of channels, including print, digital, and social media. Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging that resonates with target audiences.
- Development Communications: Craft engaging communications for donors and supporters, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and updates on project outcomes. Nurture relationships through thoughtful and personalized content.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather information, statistics, and success stories to support your writing. Collaborate with program managers, finance, and executive leadership to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
- Research: Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities, donor interests, and industry trends to inform your writing and proposal strategies.
- Storytelling: Utilize compelling storytelling techniques to convey the significance of our projects and initiatives, effectively showcasing the value of our work to funders and the broader community.
- Deadline Management: Adhere to strict deadlines for grant submissions and other time-sensitive communications, ensuring all materials are of the highest quality.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit your own work, as well as materials generated by colleagues, to maintain consistency, clarity, and accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in conducting research and synthesizing information from various sources.
- Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising strategies and grant application processes.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- A passion for our organization's mission and a genuine interest in making a positive impact.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- 5 years of proven experience in grant writing, marketing copywriting, or development communications, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and content management systems.
- Knowledge of donor management software and graphic design tools is a plus.
