Legal, Finance, and Compliance Specialist (Mining Sector)
Job Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Legal, Finance, and Compliance Specialist with over 10 years of experience in the mining sector, preferably with a background in organizations such as BHP, Xstrata, or Rio Tinto. This role involves implementing robust compliance and risk management strategies, conducting detailed risk assessments, and ensuring stringent regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating the complexities of legal and financial frameworks within the mining industry, possessing exceptional analytical skills and the capability to manage multiple priorities in a high-stakes environment.
Responsibilities:
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Develop, implement, and oversee compliance and risk management policies to ensure all company operations align with legal, financial, and regulatory frameworks.
- Continuously update and refine risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures to meet industry standards and company goals.
Risk Assessments:
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments to identify potential legal, financial, and operational vulnerabilities.
- Assess the effectiveness of existing risk controls and recommend enhancements.
- Regularly monitor and analyze risk exposure and trends, reporting findings and strategic recommendations to senior management.
Regulatory Adherence:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, financial, and industry-specific regulations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with these standards, facilitating external audits and regulatory reviews as required.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure transparent and compliant operations.
Legal Advisory and Compliance Resolution:
- Provide expert legal advice to management on issues impacting compliance and risk management.
- Investigate and resolve compliance issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures.
- Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on compliance and risk management to enhance company-wide understanding and adherence.
