HR Lead

We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR Lead to build and drive the Human Resources function from the ground up in the technology and services industry. This is a critical role for a fast-scaling, PE-backed US-based organization, requiring someone who thrives in high-ownership environments and understands the nuances of California and multi-state HR compliance. You will lead end-to-end HR operations, implement scalable systems, and act as a key partner to leadership in shaping a compliant, high-performance people function.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the entire employee lifecycle: onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews (30/60/90), employment verifications, and personnel record management.
  • Ensure HR compliance across all states (especially California): manage policy updates, training requirements, handbooks, and documentation tracking.
  • Administer benefits: oversee enrollments and changes for health, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans; liaise with brokers and vendors.
  • Handle employee relations: collaborate with legal on documentation, terminations, and sensitive issues.
  • Support payroll operations: prepare monthly inputs, validate deductions/adjustments, and assist Finance with audits and reconciliations.
  • Drive accountability: follow up on overdue deliverables (performance reviews, write-ups, etc.) and escalate as needed.
  • Improve HR systems: manage data integrity in HRIS; support transition from Microsoft Dynamics GP to Business Central.
  • Reporting: maintain dashboards and reports on headcount, turnover, and compensation changes; identify and share trends with leadership.
  • Optimize operations: streamline, template, and automate processes to reduce manual work and increase responsiveness.

Qualifications:

  • 8–10+ years of HR operations experience, preferably in tech or PE-backed companies.
  • Deep knowledge of California and multi-state HR law and compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage US-based HR operations independently.
  • Strong Excel skills for data validation and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, payroll platforms, and workflow automation tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with a bias for follow-through and assertiveness.

Preferred Experience:

  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics GP or D365 Business Central.
  • Participation in HRIS or ERP migrations.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 or audit-related HR controls.

Requirements:

  • Updated resume/CV.
  • Personal computer, reliable internet, and power backup setup.
  • Ability to work full-time remotely with US-based stakeholders.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses.
  • Fully remote work flexibility.
  • HMO coverage for employee and immediate family members.
  • Leadership opportunity in shaping a high-impact HR function.
