Construction Estimator
Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support the pursuit and execution of high-value construction projects across both public and private sectors. This full-time, remote role involves preparing precise cost estimates, analyzing bid opportunities, and contributing to strategic preconstruction efforts. The ideal candidate has significant experience estimating projects valued over $15 million, demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, and excels in developing subcontractor relationships.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects exceeding $15M.
- Lead the end-to-end bid process, from pre-bid meetings to final proposal submission.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to generate accurate takeoffs and pricing.
- Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure competitive bids.
- Participate in bid strategy sessions, contributing insights on risk, constructability, and value engineering.
- Collaborate with project management, operations, and design teams throughout handoff and preconstruction.
- Maintain and utilize historical cost data and market trends to improve estimate accuracy.
- Support business development by analyzing RFPs and aligning estimates with client objectives.
- Ensure comprehensive scope coverage and quality in all submitted proposals.
- Assist with budget development during early design phases.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years on projects over $15M.
- Proven experience in public and private sector bidding.
- Knowledge of public bidding laws, prevailing wage requirements, and construction regulations.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, trade coordination, and market dynamics.
- Proficiency in estimating tools such as Autodesk Takeoff, BuildingConnected, Bluebeam, and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple bids concurrently.
- Strong relationship-building skills with subcontractors and external partners.
Preferred Attributes:
- LEED, DBIA, or similar industry certifications.
- Experience with design-build and CMAR project delivery.
- Skilled in conceptual estimating during early design phases.
- Prior work on federal, state, or municipal construction projects.
- Track record of success in remote, self-managed roles.
