Assistant Controller (Restaurant - Hospitality or similar Industries)

Concertina is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to support our Controller in managing financial operations and compliance. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong foundation in GAAP, internal controls, and team leadership. The ideal candidate brings both technical accounting skills and the ability to lead process improvements, ideally within the restaurant, hospitality, or related industries.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the Controller in overseeing all financial reporting and compliance functions.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes efficiently and accurately.
  • Supervise day-to-day accounting operations and provide leadership to accounting staff.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal controls and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in audit preparation, tax filings, and coordination with external auditors.
  • Identify and drive process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the accounting department.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA designation preferred).
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring accounting teams.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks and Restaurant365 highly desirable).
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in the restaurant, hospitality, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with Starboard Investments' tools and systems is a plus.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent cross-departmental communication skills.
